Salary: USD 122,400 - 172,800 / annual

The Plan Operations Pharmacist will support the clinical needs and decision-making of the Plan Operations team within the Customer Success organization. This role serves as a trusted clinical advisor and business partner for pharmacy benefit services, particularly during client implementation phases. You will provide clinical expertise, market intelligence, and strategic recommendations to both internal teams and external clients.
Key responsibilities include:
- Collaborating with clients and Implementation Managers to provide clinical expertise on drug spend, utilization, clinical management strategies, medication alternatives, and formulary compliance for new groups
- Serving as a clinical subject matter expert supporting Plan Operations team activities
- Acting as a clinical liaison between Plan Operations and other internal SmithRx departments
- Explaining formulary and clinical program value propositions to clients and internal stakeholders
- Supporting communications of formulary changes and program updates
- Recommending clinical programs for new clients to drive cost savings
- Staying current with market trends and providing clinical market intelligence
- Communicating drug information and responding to plan-specific clinical inquiries
- Creating and updating clinical marketing materials for client go-live activities
- Analyzing data and interpreting drug benefit designs, communicating analytical needs to supporting departments
This is an individual contributor role focused on clinical expertise and client partnership rather than people management. The role requires strong communication skills, business acumen, and the ability to translate complex clinical and operational information for diverse audiences.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Advanced degree in Pharmacy (RPh or PharmD)
- Current and unrestricted pharmacist license in state of primary residence
- 3+ years of experience working as a licensed pharmacist
- 2+ years of working knowledge of healthcare benefits, account management, pharmacy benefits, pharmacy plan designs, or commercial health insurance
- 2+ years of experience in a client-facing role with external clients (beyond patients and prescribers)
- Executive-level communication skills, including developing and delivering formal presentations
- Strong interpersonal skills and passion for customer experience
- Ability to work independently and as part of cross-functional teams
- Self-driven, results-oriented work ethic with positive outlook
