Veeam, a market leader in data resilience and data security posture management, is seeking a Performance QA Engineer to join their Lisbon R&D office. In this role, you will design and execute performance, load, and scalability testing for major components of Veeam's data protection and backup products used by enterprises worldwide. You'll work on large-scale, real-world scenarios that directly influence the scalability, reliability, and performance of systems running in demanding environments protecting over 550,000 customers.
Key responsibilities include designing and executing comprehensive performance testing from requirement analysis through lab design to test execution and results analysis. You will build and maintain realistic enterprise-grade test environments with large infrastructures and complex topologies. The role requires identifying performance bottlenecks and system limits, then collaborating closely with developers, functional QA, and product managers to resolve them. You'll own and evolve performance test labs, managing environment creation, configuration, monitoring, and coordination with IT teams. Additionally, you'll participate in root cause analysis of performance issues reported by Technical Support and customers.
You should have technical education or strong hands-on passion for systems and performance, with 1–2 years of experience in performance and/or load testing or equivalent practical background. Advanced user or system administration level knowledge of Windows and/or Linux is essential. You need solid understanding of system internals including CPU, memory, storage, and networking, with strong analytical mindset, attention to detail, and structured thinking. English proficiency for daily communication within international teams is required.
Bonus qualifications include experience with databases (Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL) including profiling and performance analysis, scripting, test automation, or infrastructure deployment experience, understanding of virtualization platforms and large virtual environments, hands-on experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud), Python experience, and familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools like Ansible or Terraform.
