Applied Intuition is seeking a Perception & Fusion Engineer to develop and integrate real-time sensor software solutions for autonomous vehicles and defense applications. You will design and deploy sensor fusion algorithms that process data from multiple sensor modalities (EO, IR, lidar, radar, sonar, acoustics) to support autonomy stacks across heterogeneous platforms in land, air, sea, and space domains. Key responsibilities include developing AI/ML algorithms for the perception autonomy stack, creating software to autonomously control advanced sensor systems, and collaborating with sensor, tracking, and autonomy teams to ensure seamless deployment. You will deploy containerized solutions to embedded Linux devices, conduct computer-in-the-loop testing, and interact directly with DoD customers to understand requirements and triage needs during field events. Additional duties include implementing simulation tooling for post-processing field test analysis, documenting progress in a fast-paced environment, and driving continuous improvement based on customer feedback. Required qualifications include an MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Robotics, Computer Science, or equivalent, or 5+ years of relevant experience with sensor algorithms and hardware integration. You must have hands-on experience with multiple sensor modalities, understanding of sensor physics and control parameters, and proven ability training and deploying ML algorithms (Python, PyTorch, TensorFlow) to integrated systems using ONNX and C++. Strong Linux and Docker proficiency is essential, along with experience in remote software development and handling large datasets. The role requires willingness to travel every 1-2 months for 2-5 days (approximately 10-20% travel). U.S. citizenship and eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance are mandatory. Nice-to-have skills include modern C++ (2011/2017/2020), CMake, robotic swarm/multi-agent systems experience, and current U.S. SECRET clearance.
