Applied Intuition is seeking a Perception & Fusion Engineer to develop and integrate real-time sensor software solutions for autonomous vehicles across multiple domains (land, air, sea, space). You will design and deploy sensor fusion algorithms that integrate diverse sensor modalities—EO, IR, acoustics, radar, and RF—to support autonomous systems deployed with U.S. Department of Defense customers. Key responsibilities include developing AI/ML algorithms for the perception autonomy stack, creating software to autonomously control heterogeneous sensor systems, and collaborating with sensor, tracking, and autonomy teams. You will deploy containerized solutions to embedded Linux devices, conduct computer-in-the-loop testing, and interact directly with DoD customers during field testing and demonstrations. Additional duties involve triaging technical problems, documenting progress, and driving simulation tooling for post-processing field test analysis. Required qualifications: MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Robotics, Computer Science, or equivalent, OR 5+ years of hands-on experience with sensor algorithms, hardware integration, and HIL software. You must have experience with multiple sensor modalities, understand sensor physics and control parameters, and be proficient training and deploying ML algorithms (Python, PyTorch, TensorFlow) to integrated systems using ONNX or C++. Strong Linux and Docker skills are essential, along with experience in remote software development and handling large datasets. Must be a U.S. Citizen eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance. Travel required approximately every 1–2 months for 2–5 days (10–20% average) for integration and customer demonstrations. Nice-to-have skills include modern C++ (2011+), CMake, Bash, PhD in CS/EE with AI/ML focus, robotic swarm/multi-agent systems experience, and current U.S. SECRET clearance.
