Datadog's People Technology team is seeking a People Systems Developer to design and deploy AI-native workflows that transform talent acquisition, onboarding, performance management, workforce planning, and internal service delivery. This is a hands-on builder role operating with high autonomy, moving beyond traditional HRIS configuration to prototype and productionize AI-enabled systems. You will design, build, test, and implement AI-enabled workflows and tools, progressing from proofs of concept to full production based on user feedback. You'll rapidly prototype using LLMs, APIs, and automation frameworks, then move validated ideas into secure, scalable production systems. Integration work spans Workday, Greenhouse, Slack, Snowflake, Jira, and Google Workspace. You'll partner directly with stakeholders including People Analytics, HRBPs, IT, Legal, and Security to ensure solutions are usable, compliant, and follow responsible AI practices. You'll evaluate AI tools and vendors through hands-on experimentation and enable the broader People team to adopt AI effectively and responsibly. Success is measured by reducing manual People workflows by at least 20% through AI-enabled automation and intelligent system design. Required: 3–5 years in software engineering, systems engineering, or advanced automation. Proven ability to build and integrate LLM-powered features or intelligent agents into production using leading frontier models (OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini) and hands-on experience with coding agents/CLIs (Claude Code, Cursor). Strong API integration and workflow automation experience with tools like n8n, Zapier, or Workato. Comfortable operating independently in a fast-moving, low-structure environment. Able to translate complex technical systems into clear solutions for business stakeholders and use qualitative data to guide decisions and iterate. Thoughtful about privacy, governance, and responsible AI practices in sensitive HR contexts. Preferred: Familiarity with HR systems such as Workday or Greenhouse.
