Proxima Fusion is Europe's fastest-growing fusion company and the continent's best-funded fusion player, backed by over €650M. As a spin-out from the Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics, the company is developing hardware and infrastructure for the world's first commercial stellarator fusion power plant. The team spans Munich, Zurich, and Oxford, with significant headcount growth planned over the coming years.
As People Operations Manager, you will build and maintain the operational foundation that enables teams to thrive as the company scales internationally. You will coordinate day-to-day people operations across regions, ensuring processes are efficient, scalable, and employee-centric.
Key responsibilities include:
- Coordinate day-to-day people operations across multiple regions
- Manage employee lifecycle processes (onboarding, offboarding, etc.) and drive continuous improvement
- Identify inefficiencies and propose practical improvements aligned with business priorities
- Implement tools and systems to simplify and scale people processes
- Lead cross-functional projects from initiation to completion
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures and policies for consistency across locations
- Resolve day-to-day people queries and support employee needs
- Partner with external providers (payroll, benefits) to ensure reliable service delivery
- Track compliance and manage risks across supported regions
This role sits at "PF2" of the company's leveling framework. The company emphasizes that fusion energy represents a civilization-scale problem, and every hire in support functions directly accelerates the path to a working stellarator. With headcount expected to grow roughly 5x in coming years and major technical milestones ahead, your role will expand significantly.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Advanced knowledge of HRIS systems, particularly HiBob
- Fluent German language skills
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Ability to handle complex projects and sensitive/confidential information professionally
- Familiarity with AI-driven workflows and continuous improvement methodologies
- Leadership approach grounded in empathy and sensitivity
