You'll be the senior operational specialist responsible for how People Operations runs in the UK. This is a senior individual contributor role (not managing people) reporting to the People Operations Manager. You'll partner closely with the London Workplace Manager, Talent, People Partners, Legal, and Finance teams.
Key responsibilities:
- Own day-to-day People Operations for the UK population across the full employee lifecycle: joiners, leavers, changes, probation, right-to-work, background screening, leave and absence management
- Ensure compliance with UK employment law and statutory requirements; maintain audit-ready records and run periodic control checks
- Own the UK employee handbook and policy set; draft, revise, and roll out policies with clarity and consistency
- Lead 1-2 major People Ops projects per cycle end-to-end (e.g., benefits redesign, payroll consolidation, relocation strategy)
- Design and build workflows and automations that reduce manual work across the lifecycle
- Handle complex casework with People Partners: complex leave, contract variations, sensitive investigations
- Build reporting and dashboards that leadership actually uses; present data-backed operational recommendations
- Partner with the London Workplace Manager on People Ops and office intersection points: joiner onboarding, offboarding logistics, hybrid working, in-office events
- Support the People Operations Manager on UK sub-team budgeting and ROI analysis
You'll set the standard for operational excellence and be the go-to person the business escalates hard UK people-ops questions to.
Requirements:
- 5+ years in People Operations / HR Operations in a scaling company, with meaningful ownership of both process design and hands-on delivery
- Deep working knowledge of UK employment law and compliance
- Strong track record of writing and rolling out policies that hold up in practice
- Demonstrated ability to lead People Ops projects end-to-end: scoping, stakeholder alignment, delivery, measurement
- Comfort designing workflows and automations that meaningfully reduce manual work
- Exceptional attention to detail; ability to build systems that catch errors
- Comfortable being the go-to person: briefs seniors, unblocks peers, represents People function credibly in cross-functional forums
- Bias to build: prefer designing processes over inheriting them
Nice to have:
- Prior experience at a scaling fintech, capital markets business, or high-growth B2B SaaS
- Familiarity with SOC 2 / ISO People-related controls and audit prep
- Experience building automations across the People Tech stack, including HRIS
