The People team is seeking a Staff AI Engineer to lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of tools and systems powering HR workflows and AI initiatives. This role acts as the technical bridge between HR professionals, people operations, program managers, and engineering teams across Samsara.
You will design, develop, and operate secure, scalable applications, automations, and AI workflows that transform manual HR work into efficient, production-grade solutions. Key responsibilities include:
- Partner with People team members and cross-functional stakeholders (IT, others) to design, build, and maintain HR tech solutions that enhance people programs, streamline workflows, improve data quality, and drive measurable productivity gains
- Act as a key voice in roadmap planning, experimentation frameworks, and modeling strategy discussions
- Design and architect secure, scalable systems for HR operations at company scale
- Lead technical initiatives that leverage AI to automate and optimize people processes
- Mentor and guide other engineers on the People tech stack
- Ensure production-grade quality, security, and reliability of all systems

Role is open to US-based candidates except those in SF Bay Area, NYC Metro, or DC Metro areas.
