As People Advisor, you will be the local face of People Operations in Munich, providing hands-on advisory support and casework for employment matters in the German market. This is an operational, judgment-driven role that serves as a strong launchpad for career progression in People & HR.
You will provide practical advice to employees and managers on local employment practices and people matters requiring interpretation. You'll run local cases from start to finish—including absence management, performance concerns, and restructuring conversations—ensuring proper documentation and closure. You'll handle intake for leave, accommodation, and absence requests, distinguishing routine matters from those requiring escalation.
You'll build out local processes and policies to ensure people programs land effectively in your market. You'll identify opportunities to improve local processes and employee experiences, collaborating with other People teams. You'll apply the market's jurisdiction playbook accurately and flag misalignments with local reality. Critically, you'll recognize when matters become formal, contested, or legally sensitive, and hand them off immediately with complete context.
You'll work closely with Employee Relations & Compliance (who own jurisdictional frameworks and specialist expertise) and People Business Partners (who drive people initiatives and organizational changes). You'll share local trends, recurring issues, and emerging risks to inform broader decisions.
Success means employees and managers receive fast, consistent, local support; every case is well-documented and defensible; handoffs are clean and immediate; patterns are flagged early to Employee Relations & Compliance and relevant People Partners; and you become a trusted, visible presence people choose to approach.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Experience in an HR, People Operations, or HR generalist role, ideally with exposure to employee relations casework
- Good understanding of local (German) employment practices, employee relations, and HR policies, with ability to apply these in real-world situations
- Ability to stay neutral and steady under pressure, including with senior stakeholders
- Sound judgment on when to act and when to escalate; preference for flagging early rather than guessing
- Organized and detail-oriented, with documentation clear enough for handoff
- Motivated by career growth and genuine interest in developing in this role
- Comfortable working within a defined playbook while applying independent judgment
