Maven Clinic, the world's largest virtual clinic for women and families, is seeking a Senior Associate in Payment Operations to support expansion into insurance-based billing. Reporting to the Manager of Revenue Cycle Management, this role is critical for managing claim denials and appeals with payers, resolving real-time eligibility system errors, and unblocking payment issues. Key Responsibilities: - Develop, document, and iteratively refine standard operating procedures (SOPs) for claims processing as new verticals and claim types launch - Review and process complex claims while maintaining a high first-pass clean claims submission rate - Identify instances of claim denials and underpayments - Serve as the point of resolution for cross-functional needs between Revenue Cycle Management, Member Support, and Finance on billing issues - Prepare recurring operational reporting on claims volume, SLA performance, and denial trends for program and leadership review - Identify and escalate systemic issues, with authority to resolve claims-specific process issues directly and escalate member-experience or product-level issues to appropriate owners This role involves standing up SOPs for a business line that doesn't yet have them—not following an established playbook. You'll work with ambiguity and build processes from scratch, partnering cross-functionally to resolve process gaps. Maven operates a flexible hybrid model. The primary hub is the New York Metropolitan area, with remote work encouraged from San Francisco/Bay Area, Seattle, Boston, Chicago, and Washington, D.C. NYC-based team members are required to work onsite three days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday). Those in other hub cities attend quarterly Work Together Days. Requirements: - 4–6 years of experience in benefits management, revenue cycle management (RCM), or insurance claims, including experience building or improving operational processes - Comfort operating with ambiguity and building processes from scratch - Experience partnering cross-functionally, ideally with support, finance, or product teams, to resolve process gaps - Track record of synthesizing operational data into reporting for non-technical or leadership audiences - Proficiency in relevant software and tools for claims and collection management (e.g., Availity, Stedi) - Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools - Ability to work independently and as part of a team - Strong organizational skills; demonstrated ability to multitask and manage time effectively - Bachelor's degree is a plus - Active work authorization in the US required
