Cogent Security is an Applied AI Lab building the next generation of AI agents for cybersecurity. The company's "AI Taskforce" assesses petabytes of enterprise data to remediate security issues before critical breaches occur. Cogent blends frontier research with real-world execution through its core product work and Cogent Research, an applied AI lab providing research capabilities for agentic security workflows. Since emerging from stealth, the company has experienced rapid growth, partnering with Fortune 500 companies to secure complex production environments. The company is backed by Greylock and Bain Capital Ventures and has assembled a team from top universities (Stanford, Berkeley, Penn, Duke, Carnegie Mellon, Waterloo), high-growth companies (Scale AI, Databricks, Stripe, Tesla, Coinbase), world-class cybersecurity firms (Wiz, Abnormal AI, Zscaler), and preeminent research labs (DeepMind, SAIL).
In this role, you will own high-impact work across Cogent, leveraging your experience as a founder to drive critical initiatives end-to-end. You will own a new product area, customer segment, or go-to-market motion and drive it from conception through execution. You will work directly with the founding team to identify the highest-priority problems and determine solutions. You will build the systems that enable Cogent to scale—processes, playbooks, and operational infrastructure supporting the next phase of growth. You will spend time with enterprise customers and their security teams, bringing those insights into product development and positioning. As your workstream grows, you will hire and develop a team.
The role is scoped to your strengths, whether your background is in product, engineering, go-to-market, or operations.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Founded or co-founded a venture-backed startup and operated through early stages: building product, hiring your first team, managing a board, and making high-stakes decisions with incomplete information. You understand venture timelines.
- Alumni of a top accelerator such as Y Combinator, Techstars, or similar program, with the operating tempo and network that comes from it.
- Comfortable operating in ambiguity and taking ownership without direction. You have run a company before and want to bring that intensity to a scaling team with Fortune 500 customers depending on the product.
NICE TO HAVE:
- Founded or co-founded an AI-native company in cybersecurity or adjacent domain (security infrastructure, compliance automation, cloud security, threat intelligence, enterprise risk).
- Direct experience raising venture capital and navigating the fundraising lifecycle.
- Experience selling into or building for enterprise security teams.
- Background in product, engineering, or go-to-market at a high-growth startup beyond your own company.
- Familiarity with vulnerability management, SIEM, SOAR, or adjacent security tooling.
- Experience scaling a team past the first few hires and building processes to support that growth.
