OpenAI is seeking a Partnerships Manager to lead high-impact external relationships that expand product reach, accelerate adoption, and strengthen strategic capabilities. This hybrid role (3 days/week in-office in San Francisco or New York) combines relationship management, commercial judgment, and hands-on execution across the partnership ecosystem.
You will own and deepen relationships with key strategic partners including technology platforms, distribution channels, service providers, and ecosystem partners. Core responsibilities include developing partnership strategies aligned with product and go-to-market priorities, sourcing and evaluating new partners, leading commercial negotiations with Legal and Business Operations, and establishing performance metrics and governance processes for strategic relationships.
You'll translate complex business requirements into clear partner selection criteria and operating plans, identify opportunities to improve economics and service quality across the partner portfolio, and coordinate cross-functional initiatives involving Sales, Product, Engineering, Legal, Security, and Marketing. The role requires monitoring market developments and ecosystem shifts, preparing recommendations for senior leaders, and anticipating and resolving partnership risks.
Ideal candidates have 7+ years in strategic partnerships, business development, ecosystem development, or related fields. You should have managed complex relationships with technology platforms, distribution partners, or infrastructure companies, with strong negotiation skills and commercial instincts. Experience structuring sophisticated agreements, analyzing commercial and operational data, and working across technical, commercial, legal, and operational teams is essential. You thrive in ambiguous, fast-moving environments, communicate clearly with executives and partners, and balance strategic thinking with detailed execution. Preferred qualifications include experience at rapidly scaling global tech companies, familiarity with technology ecosystems and platform business models, experience developing partner scorecards and governance frameworks, and background in regulated or operationally complex environments.
