Quilt is building AI-optimized heat pump systems and software to help HVAC contractors sell, install, and service next-generation heating and cooling solutions. The company operates through a network of ~160 Quilt Certified Partners across the US and Canada, and is positioned at the center of a major industry shift as 80+ million US homes transition from fossil fuel heating to electric heat pumps.
As a Partner Field Trainer, you will be the primary educator for Quilt's HVAC partner network. Your core mission is to ensure every Quilt Certified Partner can confidently sell, install, commission, and service Quilt systems. You will spend most of your time in the field delivering hands-on training at partner locations, regional training events, and trade shows, with virtual sessions filling gaps between in-person visits.
Key responsibilities include:
- Deliver comprehensive sales and technical training covering product knowledge, system design, installation best practices, commissioning, troubleshooting, and the Quilt selling experience for both new partner onboarding and ongoing education.
- Conduct field training and ride-alongs with installation crews at partner locations.
- Host webinars and remote training sessions between in-person visits.
- Guide partners through Quilt's certification process and track progress in the Learning Management System.
- Provide post-training support by answering partner questions, troubleshooting installation and product issues, and directing partners to resources.
- Collaborate with the training team to keep guides, videos, and course content current as products and software evolve.
- Report common partner questions, installation challenges, and training gaps back to product and training teams to drive continuous improvement.
You will have a direct line to Quilt's product and training teams, meaning your field observations directly shape what the company builds next. This role offers visibility across the entire partner ecosystem and the opportunity to influence both training programs and product development.
Requirements:
- 3+ years of experience in technical training, field training, or enablement, ideally in HVAC, home services, clean energy, or building trades.
- Strong technical aptitude with the ability to learn product and installation details quickly and explain them clearly to audiences at all experience levels.
- Excellent facilitation skills for hands-on workshops, virtual webinars, and sales training sessions; demonstrated ability to connect with tradespeople.
- Comfortable using Learning Management Systems (e.g., Docebo, Lessonly, Litmos, Absorb, or similar) to track training and certifications.
- Organized and self-directed; able to manage your own travel schedule and work independently in the field.
- Curiosity about the future of home energy and excitement about teaching products leading the shift to heat pumps.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel extensively (averaging 50–75%) to partner locations, training events, and trade shows.
Nice to have:
- HVAC industry knowledge or technical background (heat pumps, ducted and ductless systems, refrigeration fundamentals).
- Hands-on installation or service experience.
- Experience creating or editing training videos and written guides.
- Background in residential construction, home performance, or building science.
- NATE certification or other HVAC industry credentials.
