Rocket Lab is seeking a Panel Program Engineer II/Senior to join its Space Systems team in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This role provides technical leadership and coordination for solar panel and solar array programs, ensuring requirements are met and system concepts are executed throughout project lifecycles.
You will act as the technical lead and primary customer point of contact for solar array programs, leading a cross-functional team spanning R&D, analysis, operations, design, and manufacturing. Key responsibilities include owning and reviewing program technical content across multiple engineering disciplines, serving as the primary technical interface with customers, and collaborating with program managers to execute milestones.
Your day-to-day work involves reviewing all program-related engineering documents to ensure technical requirements are met, preparing engineering documentation for internal and external customers, supporting proposal compliance reviews, and managing program-related Engineering Change Requests. You will interface with production and manufacturing teams to resolve program issues, support material review boards, manage configuration tasks (specifications, travelers, test procedures), and review production simulations and test data.
Rocket Lab's Space Systems team has enabled over 1,700 missions, including interplanetary exploration, in-space manufacturing, and national security initiatives. The team builds complete spacecraft, precision payloads, and critical subsystems including solar panels, flight software, star trackers, optical systems, and radios for partners including NASA, the Space Development Agency, and the U.S. Space Force.
For Panel Program Engineer II: Bachelor's degree in engineering, material science, or applied physics; 2+ years of industry experience in an engineering role; knowledge of Systems Engineering design process; proficiency in MS Office; excellent written and verbal communication skills; demonstrated leadership capability.
For Senior Panel Program Engineer I: Bachelor's degree in engineering, material science, or applied physics; 5+ years of industry experience in an engineering role; knowledge of Systems Engineering design process; proficiency in MS Office; excellent written and verbal communication skills; demonstrated leadership capability.
Nice-to-have qualifications include experience with Siemens NX, AutoCAD (DWG viewer), or SolidWorks 2012.
