Salary: USD 166,000 - 220,000 / annual
Anduril Industries is seeking an Orbital Software Engineer to contribute to the architecture and deployment of software solutions supporting on-orbit spacecraft operations and mission management for U.S. military and allied partners. You will provide technical guidance and oversight to a team developing modular capabilities across the space domain, architecting orbital software systems in coordination with the Lattice software platform team, and developing algorithms and code to support orbital systems interfacing with multi-domain systems.
Key responsibilities include contributing to software solutions deployed to customers, developing on-orbit software capabilities for end-to-end mission systems, integrating with legacy defense systems to unlock modern capabilities, writing code to improve products and scale mission capability across users and customers, and collaborating across multiple teams to plan, build, and test complex functionality. You will create and analyze metrics for debugging and monitoring, triage issues and root cause failures, and partner with end-users to translate needs into features while balancing user experience with engineering constraints.
Required qualifications include a strong engineering background in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, or Physics; ability to quickly understand complex systems and detailed requirements; capability to solve complex technical problems with minimal oversight; clear communication and organizational skills; 3+ years professional experience with programming languages such as Python, C++, Rust, or Go; experience with spacecraft software systems and spacecraft operations; experience with satellite mission autonomy including fault isolation and recovery systems; and eligibility to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.
Preferred qualifications include advanced expertise with Python, Go, Rust, or C++; experience with deployment tooling like Kubernetes, OpenShift, or Helm; and experience with OMS/UCI standards and modular software services development.
