Impulse is seeking an Optical Test Engineer II to design, procure, assemble, and operate optomechanical test setups for high-performance spacecraft. You will take ownership of key test assets and major test programs while collaborating across engineering teams in a fast-paced, agile environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and build optical, mechanical, and electrical systems supporting spacecraft optomechanical components
- Own key test assets and major test programs from conception through execution
- Coordinate with external vendors and contractors to meet technical and schedule objectives
- Perform test setup, hardware inspections, checkouts, and troubleshooting
- Conduct test operations focused on rapidly developing flight-ready hardware
- Identify and resolve technical issues with innovative, resourceful solutions
- Manage data acquisition and control systems
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical, optical, aerospace, electrical engineering, or related field
- 3+ years of hands-on hardware development testing experience
- Strong fundamentals in optical, mechanical, and electrical analysis
- Demonstrated experience with test facility operations
- Proven track record of owning test stand design and build-up
- Ability to identify and procure appropriate test equipment
- Proficiency with data acquisition and control methods
- Strong project ownership skills and ability to work effectively in small teams
