Prolific Machines is developing a novel optogenetic platform that enables precise, dynamic control over cellular behavior for biotechnology and pharmaceutical applications. The platform delivers tunable control over virtually any cellular function across cell types, unlocking efficiency, quality, and reproducibility advantages in complex therapeutics and protein production.
As an Optical Engineer, you will design, develop, and optimize optical systems and components that form the core of our optogenetic platform. Your responsibilities will include:
• Designing and simulating optical systems, including light sources, optics, and detection pathways
• Developing and validating optical components and subsystems for cellular control applications
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams (biology, software, hardware) to integrate optical technology into the platform
• Conducting optical characterization, testing, and troubleshooting to meet performance specifications
• Contributing to patent development and technical documentation
• Evaluating and selecting optical components, materials, and manufacturing processes
• Scaling optical designs from prototype to production-ready systems
