Bedrock Robotics is deploying autonomous systems on heavy construction machinery across the country to accelerate infrastructure projects and improve job site safety. The company is backed by $350M in funding and led by industry veterans from Waymo, Segment, and Uber Freight. As an Operations Test Engineer, you will bridge development and deployment by designing, developing, and executing comprehensive test plans that validate robotic systems' performance, reliability, and operational readiness in real-world environments. Key responsibilities include: TEST STRATEGY AND DESIGN: Partner with hardware and software teams early in the concept phase to design end-to-end test plans and strategies. Ensure all test plans are traceable to product requirements and operational specifications. Design and implement test fixtures, jigs, and automated test scripts (hardware and software). Select, configure, and maintain testing tools and equipment. TEST EXECUTION AND REPORTING: Conduct functional, performance, endurance, environmental, and operational readiness testing on robotic hardware, embedded systems, and control software. Identify, document, prioritize, and track defects using bug tracking systems. Collect, analyze, and interpret test data using statistical methods. Generate detailed test reports with executive summaries, failure analysis, and deployment readiness recommendations. CROSS-FUNCTIONAL COLLABORATION: Lead integration testing efforts between robotic subsystems (mechanical, electrical, firmware, control software). Work closely with development teams to define and validate subsystem and product-level verification and validation. Participate in design reviews, root cause analysis sessions, and post-mortems to improve product design and testing processes. Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, or related field. 2+ years of product testing, QA, or validation experience, preferably in robotics, hardware, or industrial automation. Demonstrated experience designing formal test plans and procedures from high-level specifications. Proficiency in at least one scripting language (Python, MATLAB). Hands-on experience with hardware-in-the-loop testing. Strong understanding of data acquisition systems, sensor validation, and instrumentation. Preferred: Industrial communication protocols (EtherCAT, Modbus, CAN), environmental testing standards, robotic operating systems (ROS), Python/C++/Rust/SQL, statistical process control, defect tracking tools (Jira, Linear, Testiny).
