Bedrock Robotics is deploying autonomous systems on heavy construction equipment across the country. We're seeking a Manufacturing Test Engineer to design, build, and scale robust test systems that ensure product quality from early hardware development through high-volume manufacturing and fleet deployment.
You will own test strategy, infrastructure, and execution across the product lifecycle—from EVT/DVT/PVT through production—catching design, process, workmanship, and component-level issues before products reach the field. This role sits at the intersection of hardware engineering, manufacturing, and quality.
Key responsibilities include:
• Defining end-to-end manufacturing test strategy and developing scalable hardware test frameworks covering functional, system-level, and end-of-line testing
• Designing and implementing functional test systems (electrical, mechanical, system-level validation) with automated test scripts and sequences using Python or similar languages
• Integrating test equipment (DAQs, sensors, vision systems, robotics interfaces) and building diagnostic tools to isolate failures quickly
• Configuring and managing work orders and test flows within MES or manufacturing systems, ensuring traceability to serial numbers and build configurations
• Leading test bring-up for new products during EVT/DVT/PVT builds and supporting factory ramp by deploying and validating test stations on production lines
• Developing structured diagnostic workflows to identify root causes of failures and partnering with hardware, firmware, and quality teams on RCA
• Designing and executing ongoing reliability and stress testing (burn-in, environmental, lifecycle) and monitoring failure trends
• Defining and tracking test coverage metrics, escape rates, and driving improvements in first pass yield (FPY)
• Building systems for automated data collection, analysis, and reporting; leveraging scripting and software tools to streamline test development
• Implementing scalable solutions that support multi-line, multi-site manufacturing, including advanced tools (AI/ML) for anomaly detection and predictive insights
You will spend your days balancing coverage vs. speed vs. cost, working on the factory floor alongside technicians and engineers, debugging production issues, developing new test capabilities, and continuously improving systems to reduce field failures and returns.
REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field
• 5+ years of experience in manufacturing test, hardware validation, or production engineering
• Experience supporting NPI builds (EVT/DVT/PVT) and scaling production ramp
• Strong experience with automated test development and scripting (Python preferred)
• Hands-on experience with test equipment (oscilloscopes, DAQs, power supplies, sensors, etc.)
• Familiarity with MES systems, work order configuration, and manufacturing workflows
• Experience with hardware-software integration and embedded systems testing
• Knowledge of diagnostics, failure analysis, and reliability testing methodologies
• Experience with data analysis tools (Python, SQL, or similar)
• Willing to travel domestically and internationally up to 30%
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
• Robotics, autonomous systems, or complex electromechanical products
• High-volume manufacturing and contract manufacturer environments
• Vision systems, calibration processes, or system-level testing
• HIL/SIL testing frameworks
• Problem-solving mindset and ability to manage complex challenges with little established playbook
• Proven track record of identifying, managing, and mitigating risks in large, complex programs
• Comfortable with ambiguity and thriving in fast-moving, constantly evolving environments
