Salary: USD 65,000 - 75,000 / annual
Via Transportation is seeking an Operations Manager for its Student Transit division. This is a high-ownership, boots-on-the-ground role based in Sacramento, San Jose, or Santa Rosa, requiring 4–5 days per week onsite.
You will lead daily operations of student transportation services, ensuring safe, reliable, and accessible transit for school districts and their students. Key responsibilities include:
• Managing real-time operational decisions around driver supply, compliance, student needs, and unexpected service disruptions
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with drivers, providing support and ensuring they feel equipped to deliver excellent service
• Translating student and district feedback into actionable operational improvements by identifying patterns and collaborating with internal teams
• Leveraging data and technology to monitor service performance, diagnose issues, and implement efficiency and experience enhancements
• Serving as the operational bridge between school partners, drivers, and Via's central teams to support service quality and market growth
Ideal candidates bring operational experience in people management, logistics, customer service, or process-oriented environments. You are relationship-oriented, earning trust through clear communication and follow-through. You are hands-on and proactive, preferring fieldwork and solving problems where they occur. You balance tactical problem-solving with strategic thinking about long-term solutions. You are mission-driven and understand the importance of student transportation in shaping educational access and life outcomes.
Compensation: $65,000–$75,000 annually, plus equity and variable pay where applicable. Benefits include free medical plans and 401(k) matching.
