Salary: USD 65,000 - 75,000 / annual
Via is a transportation technology platform transforming public transit systems into smart, data-driven networks. As Operations Manager for the Student Transit team, you'll lead daily onsite operations ensuring safe, reliable, and accessible student transportation services across your market.
You'll own the operational execution of student transit services, making real-time decisions about driver supply, compliance, student needs, and unexpected service issues. You'll build and maintain strong relationships with drivers, providing guidance and support to ensure they deliver excellent service. You'll act as the operational bridge between school district partners, drivers, and Via's central teams.
Key responsibilities include: running daily onsite operations to maintain service reliability; making informed real-time decisions on driver supply and student needs; guiding and supporting drivers through relationship-building and problem-solving; converting student and district feedback into actionable operational improvements; using data and technology to diagnose performance issues and implement efficiency solutions; and collaborating with internal teams to support market growth.
You bring operational experience in people management, logistics, customer service, or process-oriented work. You're relationship-oriented, earning trust through clear communication and follow-through. You're hands-on and proactive, preferring field-based problem-solving. You balance tactical issue resolution with strategic long-term thinking. You're mission-driven, understanding how student transportation impacts education and life trajectories. You're based in Sacramento, San Jose, or Santa Rosa and ready to be onsite 4–5 days per week.
