Amca is restoring America's advanced manufacturing capability for critical defense and aerospace systems. The Operations Engineer is the backbone of factory operations, solving manufacturing problems as they arise, building scalable processes, and managing the supplier ecosystem.
You will be a hands-on engineer moving between the production floor, ERP systems, and supplier facilities in the same week. This role owns three major areas:
**Manufacturing Problem Solving:** You are the first call when production stalls—whether the root cause is process, machine, material, supplier, or system. You use structured methods (5 Whys, fishbone diagrams, FMEA) to find root causes and implement permanent fixes, not workarounds. You track recurring issues, rework, and downtime to identify and close out systemic patterns.
**Processes and Systems:** You map workflows to find bottlenecks and failure points, then redesign them to handle increased volume and headcount. You own and improve the internal ERP system—fixing data errors, broken workflows, and missing fields in collaboration with software engineering. You build what the ERP lacks, starting with comprehensive EH&S tracking: hazardous material flags, safety data sheets, supplier certifications, and training records to ensure full traceability from purchase to disposal. You create tools and dashboards (Excel, SQL, Python, Power BI) to analyze capacity, cycle time, cost, and output.
**Environmental, Health & Safety:** You own hazardous material handling end-to-end: receiving, storage, use, tracking, and disposal. You develop procedures and training that production teams execute daily. You maintain compliance with OSHA, EPA, NFPA, and applicable state/local regulations including RCRA and DOT waste requirements, permits, and reporting. You run hazard assessments, inspections, and incident investigations, and keep emergency response plans current for fires and spills.
This is a role for an engineer who thrives in a fast-moving, hands-on environment where you directly impact manufacturing capability and national security.
**Requirements:**
- Experience as an industrial, operations, process, or manufacturing engineer in a developmental manufacturing environment
- Strong project management skills and effective communication across multi-disciplinary teams
- EH&S experience such as running safety programs, RCRA or DOT hazardous waste management, environmental permits, or industrial hygiene
- Must be a U.S. person as defined by ITAR (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or protected person)
