Round Treasury is an AI-powered financial OS platform automating treasury, payments, AP, FX, and financial workflows for SMEs and mid-market companies. The company has grown from a handful to hundreds of customers, is backed by leading VC firms (a16z, Sequoia, Accel, Atomico), and is preparing for Series A expansion into the US and EU.
You will be Round's first operations hire, reporting directly to the CEO and working closely with the CTO. You own all systems and special projects outside of product development and sales—essentially building the operations function from scratch as the company scales through Series A and into new markets.
Key responsibilities include:
**Operating Rhythm**: Design and run all-hands meetings, planning cycles, shared metrics, and performance management to ensure clarity on priorities and progress.
**Resilience & Automation**: Eliminate single points of failure in critical processes, build customer support and success operations, and automate or document everything possible.
**People Operations**: Manage onboarding, offboarding, equipment, commission structures, and employer brand to support team growth without bureaucracy.
**Workplace & Culture**: Oversee office operations, offsites, and social events to build a strong company culture.
**Fundraising & Corporate Admin**: Manage legal matters, cap table, ESOP, data room, and investor updates through Series A and beyond.
**Legal & Regulatory**: Manage external advisers and lead regulatory, entity, and partnership work as Round expands internationally. The company is FCA-authorised and operates across multiple entities, requiring high operational rigour.
**Finance**: Run Round's own finances on its platform, learning how customers use the product and feeding insights back to the product team. You'll also participate in GTM activities, joining customer conversations and events as a credible voice for finance leaders.
This is not a chief-of-staff role. You own a function, make autonomous decisions, and are accountable for outcomes. You'll work with both product and GTM teams and should be one of the most credible people in the room when speaking with finance leaders (FDs, CFOs).
**Requirements:**
- Scaled operations at a fast-growing company before, ideally from ~20 to 100+ people, and were instrumental in making that work.
- 6–10 years of experience: senior enough to be autonomous from day one, early enough to want to build rather than manage.
- Strong finance foundations; can run a company's finances properly and be credible in front of a CFO. A finance qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or background in finance, banking, or consulting is a strong plus.
- Experience close to a fundraise: understand data rooms, manage cap tables, keep investors and lawyers moving.
- Comfortable with legal and regulatory work: can manage lawyers, read contracts, and identify what matters. No law degree required.
- Comfortable owning people processes: onboarding, offboarding, performance, commission, difficult conversations, UK employment basics. No HR background required but must be willing to engage.
- Systems thinker: identify patterns behind recurring problems and solve them once.
- Very high agency: work out what matters most, move fast, and communicate decisions.
- Genuinely AI-native: use AI tools to build and automate. Your default answer to manual processes is an agent, automation, or workflow. Already running significant work through Claude, ChatGPT, or similar.
- Excellent written communication: can simplify complex topics.
- No ego about execution: comfortable with both strategic work and operational details (e.g., booking offsites, chasing signatures).
Nice to have: fintech or regulated environment experience (ideally FCA), US or EU entity setup, or customer support/success function building.
