The Exploration Company is developing Nyx, a modular and reusable space orbital vehicle designed for cargo transport and eventual human missions. As a Component Manufacturing Engineer, you will own the end-to-end manufacturing processes for solenoid isolation valves used in the storable propulsion system, transforming designs into flight-qualified hardware.
You will define and develop manufacturing processes covering precision machining, welding/brazing, coil winding, and seal installation, ensuring compatibility with storable propellants. You'll develop and qualify tooling and fixtures for repeatable, high-precision assembly while driving continuous improvement in yield, cycle time, and cost.
A core responsibility is establishing precision cleaning and contamination control procedures compliant with cleanliness requirements for propellant-wetted components. You'll support valve assembly operations, troubleshoot manufacturing issues (leaks, misalignment, seal damage), and implement corrective actions.
You will coordinate manufacturing activities with the internal machine shop and external suppliers for machined parts, solenoid coils, and seals. You'll provide manufacturing input during design reviews to ensure manufacturability and support make-or-buy decisions and supplier qualification.
Quality and documentation are critical: you'll define inspection plans and acceptance criteria (dimensional, NDI, leak check), maintain manufacturing documentation and work instructions, and support root-cause investigations for non-conformances.
The role is based in Bordeaux with occasional travel to Munich. You'll work hands-on with precision flight hardware, collaborating across multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced, agile environment.
