Nautilus Biotechnology is seeking a Scientist or Senior NPI (New Product Introduction) Scientist to bridge R&D and manufacturing operations. The role focuses on developing and refining methods for production and testing of protein analysis platforms and related processes.
Key responsibilities include owning the transfer of biochemical reagents, proteins, antibodies, and sequencing assays from R&D to commercial production; designing and optimizing scale-up studies to improve yield, stability, and robustness of complex formulations; authoring SOPs, batch records, and technical reports in compliance with quality standards; conducting root-cause analysis and providing technical support during pilot and production phases; partnering with R&D to establish QC release criteria and specifications; and performing hands-on laboratory work including reagent formulation, conjugation, and analytical sample preparation.
The ideal candidate has a PhD in chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology, or related field with 2–3 years of industry experience (or MS with 3–5 years, or BS with 5–7+ years). Required expertise includes protein biochemistry, protein purification, reagent formulation, and analytical chemistry (HPLC, MS, FPLC). Experience with BOM setup (Arena/Agile), costing analysis, supply chain management, and vendor management is essential. Candidates must have hands-on experience in controlled development or manufacturing environments (ISO 9001 & ISO 13485 certified). Strong documentation, communication, and project management skills are critical, along with proficiency in Excel and familiarity with project tracking tools (Smartsheet, Microsoft Project). This is a full-time, onsite position in San Carlos, CA requiring willingness to work hands-on in lab and production environments.
