Apex manufactures satellite buses (spacecraft platforms) at scale for the commercial space industry. The company combines software, vertical integration, and hardware-optimized design to enable customers to launch payloads to orbit as launch costs decrease and demand for commercial spacecraft grows.
You will join as an NPI Manufacturing Engineer supporting the development of scalable manufacturing processes and production methodologies for a classified government program. You'll work cross-functionally with design engineering, production, supply chain, and quality teams to ensure deliverables are manufacturable, scalable, and efficient.
Key responsibilities include: supporting manufacturing and NPI execution as programs transition from development builds through production ramp; providing DFM/DFA feedback during concept development, PDR, CDR, and release phases; developing production methodologies and process flows for medium-to-high-rate spacecraft manufacturing; contributing to factory development including workflow definition, line design, GSE planning, and equipment integration; defining assembly strategies, tooling concepts, work instructions, and production readiness plans; supporting sourcing, commissioning, validation, and deployment of production equipment and manufacturing systems; working with supply chain, production, and quality teams to meet cost, quality, reliability, and production rate targets; and establishing manufacturing documentation, process controls, and configuration management practices.
Required qualifications: U.S. Persons status (export-controlled data access); B.S. in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Aerospace Engineering or equivalent; 3+ years in manufacturing engineering, NPI, production development, or factory engineering; experience transitioning complex hardware from prototype/development to production; strong DFM/DFA and manufacturing process development knowledge; proficiency interpreting engineering drawings and technical documents; hands-on experience with process validation, integration, hardware bring-up, and troubleshooting; cross-functional collaboration experience; familiarity with configuration control, manufacturing documentation, and engineering change management; exposure to automation systems and advanced manufacturing; aerospace, satellite, robotics, or automotive industry background; ability to operate in fast-paced, ambiguous environments; and excellent communication skills.
