Anduril Industries, a defense technology company, is seeking an NPI (New Product Introduction) Engineer to drive the transition of complex aerospace and defense systems from prototype to high-rate production. This hands-on role focuses on manufacturing, assembly, and test engineering for mission-critical propulsion systems, actuators, and electromechanical assemblies.
Key responsibilities include owning the NPI process for mechanical and electromechanical systems, developing and implementing comprehensive test plans for functional, performance, and environmental validation across development and production phases. You will design and validate scalable manufacturing and assembly processes, introduce automation and tooling to optimize production efficiency, and work closely with production teams to troubleshoot issues and scale operations for high-yield, high-throughput manufacturing.
The role requires collaboration with design engineers on Design for Manufacturing (DFM) optimization, partnering with quality engineering to define inspection and acceptance criteria, and leading first article manufacturing and testing. You will conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for production or field failures, develop tooling, jigs, and fixtures to support efficient manufacturing, and use statistical methods and data analysis to drive continuous process improvement.
Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Aerospace Engineering, 3+ years of NPI, manufacturing, or test engineering experience, deep expertise in manufacturing processes (CNC machining, injection molding, casting, sheet metal fabrication, electromechanical assembly), demonstrated DFM/DFA expertise, and strong knowledge of quality systems. Proficiency with CAD and PLM tools (SolidWorks, Creo) and analytical skills including statistical process control are essential.
Preferred qualifications include experience with propulsion systems, electric motors, gearboxes, or high-performance actuators in aerospace/defense, familiarity with environmental testing standards, experience with defense/aerospace standards (AS9100, MIL-STD), Six Sigma certification, and lean manufacturing experience.
