Torus is the world's first mesh energy infrastructure company, uniting communities through resilient, sustainable, and intelligent power systems. Headquartered in Utah with a 545,000-square-foot manufacturing facility (GigaOne) in Salt Lake City, Torus designs, engineers, manufactures, installs, and supports energy systems end-to-end. The company has raised over $267 million from investors including Magnetar, Mercado, ICONIQ, and Origin Ventures to accelerate deployment of modular power plants across utilities, data centers, and industrial sectors.
As a Network Operator, you will join Torus Overwatch Command, the team responsible for protecting system visibility, reliability, and uptime that customers depend on. You will investigate alerts, execute response procedures, coordinate with Grid Operators to maintain and restore service, and partner with field service teams to resolve issues requiring on-site support. This role demands disciplined execution, clear communication, and sound judgment to recognize when issues fall outside documented procedures and require escalation.
Key responsibilities include:
- Execute network and infrastructure alert responses within documented procedures across sites, building toward independent diagnosis
- Perform system and alert analysis across network fabric and connected infrastructure (switches, CRAC and chiller loops, ATS, site monitoring sensors)
- Coordinate with Grid Operators on uptime and field service for hands-on-site fixes
- Partner with engineering teams to build and follow runbooks during incidents, escalating per established playbooks when needed
- Participate in on-call rotations with senior support
- Monitor system health through dashboards, flag anomalies, and maintain complete and current tickets and logs
- Manage your own task list and meet assigned response windows
- Communicate alert status clearly at every handoff
- Help build and refine playbooks and procedures as systems and tooling mature
- Actively seek feedback and ask questions to build independent judgment
You keep the fleet online. You understand that every system Torus operates depends on the network to be seen, controlled, and kept safe, treating uptime as a safety function. You remain calm when alarms stack up, decide quickly what matters most (safety first, then availability, then performance), catch degradation before it becomes an outage, never make unapproved changes, and escalate with the evidence the next tier needs. You hold your shift to a high bar for accuracy and documentation, and you make the people around you better at protecting the systems we all depend on.
The role is full-time, salaried, and requires rotational on-call work including nights, weekends, and holidays. You will work on-site at the Salt Lake City facility.
**Requirements:**
- 4+ years in network operations or a NOC environment, with some hands-on configuration exposure
- Solid grasp of networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, VLANs, routing and switching basics, and common troubleshooting patterns
- Proven experience executing documented procedures precisely and recognizing when a situation falls outside them
- Hands-on experience with network monitoring and ticketing platforms
- Clear written and verbal communication for shift handoffs and status updates
- Must work on a rotating schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Must already have legal authorization to work in the US without requiring employer sponsorship
**Preferred Experience:**
- CCNP or similar certification in progress or completed
- Exposure to compute or infrastructure systems (servers, cooling, power distribution) in addition to networking
- Experience in multi-site or distributed network environments
- Familiarity with change control processes (ITIL or similar)
- Comfortable working where procedures and tooling are still evolving, with interest in helping shape them
- Interest in growing into roles with broader technical scope and ownership
