Cloudflare is seeking a Network Deployment Engineer to lead the build-out and expansion of its global network infrastructure across 700+ data center locations. You will work closely with the Network Infrastructure Planning, Network Engineering, SRE, and Project Management teams, as well as external vendors and partners (hardware vendors, logistics providers, data center operators, and ISPs) to plan and execute aggressive network expansion. Key responsibilities include provisioning, monitoring, and maintaining hardware, software, and network infrastructure in new Cloudflare data centers. You will perform server administration tasks remotely using IPMI/BMC tools, including server provisioning, monitoring, troubleshooting, and firmware updates. Network configuration tasks will span both greenfield deployments and brownfield migration activities. You will manage remote contractors completing data center installations and upgrades (rack and stack operations), coordinating with hardware manufacturers, data center providers, logistics partners, and other service providers. The role requires building automation using Python scripts and Changie to eliminate repetitive work, with active development of agentic AI tools to reduce administrative overhead. Additional responsibilities include planning and implementing network and server installations (facility power, cooling, security/access, rack layout, cable management), providing technical leadership and guidance to remote contractors and junior team members, creating and maintaining documentation (plans, SOPs, MOPs, runbooks), and collaborating with internal teams on day-to-day operations and project planning. You will coordinate global cross-connect installations and assist with defining, documenting, and implementing consistent processes and standardization across all regions. Limited travel is required. Required experience includes a minimum of 5 years in Data Center Operations, Site Reliability Engineering, Linux Systems Administration, Network Engineering, or DevOps. You must be familiar with day-to-day data center operations tasks, have experience with optical transport technologies (CWDM/DWDM), configuration management tools (Saltstack, Chef, Puppet, Ansible), knowledge of network protocols/topologies/enterprise architecture, and experience writing network configuration and design documentation.
