Teamshares is seeking a President to lead a longstanding, community-rooted home furnishings retailer. You will own full P&L responsibility, business strategy, and operations, reporting to a Teamshares Industry Lead who supports a portfolio of companies in the sector. Key Responsibilities: - Own all business strategy, operations, and P&L management for the furniture retail company - Lead an experienced team of existing employee owners through a transition to employee ownership - Support and develop the sales team, including a commission-based group of sales associates and designers; coach, retain, and motivate top performers while preserving the high-touch, consultative customer experience - Take ownership of merchandising, purchasing, pricing, and vendor partnerships; manage buying-cooperative programs and market trips to keep the showroom assortment fresh, differentiated, and profitable - Drive revenue growth through marketing, community outreach, showroom improvements, and expanded digital discovery and appointment booking - Develop and execute repeatable business processes; establish and track key operational metrics and financial outcomes across sales, warehouse, and delivery - Collaborate with Teamshares staff and financial partners on expense management, capital purchases, and growth initiatives - Serve as a steady operational leader during the transition to the Teamshares model, maintaining continuity for customers, employees, and vendors - Handle HR responsibilities including staff disputes, performance evaluations, compensation decisions, and culture-building - Build and invest in local community relationships through civic organizations, events, and philanthropy - Partner with fellow shareholders to instill an owner's mindset and foster a values-aligned company culture Requirements: - Proven track record leading a commission or consultative sales team selling high-ticket, considered purchases; demonstrated ability to coach, motivate, and retain top performers - Meaningful experience in the furniture or home furnishings industry (retail leadership, merchandising, manufacturer/brand side, or adjacent high-end home retail) - Experience with purchasing, pricing, and vendor negotiation; familiarity with furniture markets, buying cooperatives, and custom/special-order programs preferred - Solid working understanding of P&L, gross margin, discounting, and inventory management; ability to partner effectively with a controller - Demonstrated people leadership abilities with strong interpersonal and communication skills; low-ego, collaborative approach - Steady, people-first leadership style with judgment and temperament to lead a tenured team through change with care and trust-building - Genuine desire to be a visible, engaged leader in the local community - Entrepreneurial mindset with desire to build, innovate, and operate hands-on in a transformative environment - Proven project management skills and humble, hands-on, get-it-done attitude - Strong analytical skills to oversee company financials and develop strategies for sustainable growth - Growth mindset; willingness to explore new ideas, learn from mistakes, and innovate continuously - Ability to think creatively and critically with natural bias toward action; agility and flexibility in dynamic environments
