Salary: USD 170,000 - 190,000 / annual
Voyager Technologies is an innovative space, defense, and national security technology company seeking a Network Architect to design, engineer, and implement enterprise network infrastructure across corporate offices, engineering environments, manufacturing facilities, secure environments, newly acquired companies, and mission-support locations.
Reporting to the Director of Networking, this senior technical role serves as a technical authority responsible for translating business, cybersecurity, compliance, and operational requirements into secure, scalable, resilient, and supportable network solutions. You will work across the complete network lifecycle—from current-state discovery and assessment through target-state architecture, detailed engineering, implementation, migration, testing, documentation, and operational transition.
Key Responsibilities:
Network Discovery & Assessment: Lead technical discovery and current-state assessments across Voyager facilities and newly acquired companies. Document existing network topology, circuits, routing, switching, wireless, firewall boundaries, VPN connectivity, VLANs, IP addressing, segmentation, DNS/DHCP, and network services. Identify undocumented infrastructure, architectural inconsistencies, single points of failure, capacity constraints, security concerns, and technical debt. Develop current-state and target-state diagrams, gap assessments, and migration recommendations.
Enterprise Network Architecture & Engineering: Design secure, scalable, highly available enterprise architectures for LAN, WAN, wireless, SD-WAN, internet edge, VPN, remote access, routing, switching, and network segmentation. Develop and maintain enterprise network standards, reference architectures, engineering patterns, and technology roadmaps. Produce high-level and low-level designs, logical and physical diagrams, implementation plans, bills of material, and resiliency models. Establish standardized architectural patterns reusable across Voyager while accommodating mission-specific and regulated-environment requirements.
Network Build, Integration & Modernization: Provide hands-on engineering leadership during network builds, site activations, office expansions, technology refreshes, migrations, and acquisition integrations. Design and support transition of legacy networks into Voyager enterprise architecture. Develop migration strategies that minimize operational impact with clear rollback and validation criteria. Coordinate circuit provisioning, carrier connectivity, hardware deployment, configuration, cutover, and testing. Validate routing, redundancy, failover, segmentation, security policy enforcement, and network performance.
Security, Compliance & Resilience: Partner with Cybersecurity to incorporate Zero Trust, network segmentation, access control, logging, secure remote access, and least-privilege principles. Design network solutions supporting CMMC, CUI, ITAR/EAR, government, and other regulatory requirements. Support implementation of firewalls, VPN, network access control, security zones, and network security monitoring. Maintain architecture diagrams, design records, configuration standards, and technical evidence for audit and compliance. Incorporate high availability, disaster recovery, and business continuity into network designs.
Requirements:
- 10+ years of enterprise network architecture, design, and engineering experience
- Deep expertise in LAN, WAN, routing, switching, wireless, SD-WAN, VPN, firewalls, and network security
- Experience designing and implementing networks in complex, multi-site, mission-critical environments
- Strong knowledge of network segmentation, Zero Trust architecture, and security principles
- Experience with government compliance frameworks (CMMC, CUI, ITAR/EAR) and classified network environments
- Proficiency with major networking platforms (Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto Networks, Fortinet, or equivalent)
- Hands-on experience with network design tools, documentation, and automation
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Relevant industry certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, JNCIP, PCNSE, Security+, CISSP, or comparable certifications
- Active U.S. Government security clearance required based on final position scope
- Minimum of active TS/Top Secret Clearance with SCI Eligibility or TS/SCI upon hire
- Must be a U.S. Person (US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, or protected individual) and eligible to obtain export authorizations
