Commonwealth Fusion Systems is seeking an NDT Manager – Responsible Level III to lead Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) operations and build the organization's NDT capability from SPARC manufacturing through the future ARC fleet. This role combines technical leadership with people management, overseeing the NDT technician team and serving as the Responsible Level III and Certifying Authority for all NDT operations.
You will be accountable for the successful execution of all NDT inspections across CFS manufacturing, CFS-2 construction, tokamak assembly, and vendor sites. Your technical portfolio spans ultrasonic testing (UT/UTPA), radiography (CR & DR), eddy current (ET), penetrant testing (PT), magnetic particle testing (MT), and visual testing (VT). You will set technical direction across the full method portfolio and own the personnel qualification and certification program.
Key responsibilities include directly managing the NDT supervisor and team of NDT technicians, interfacing with corporate EHS Radiation Safety, project managers, design engineers, vendors, manufacturing, construction, and tokamak assembly teams. You will ensure personnel are properly scheduled and assigned to jobs based on their credentials and qualifications.
This is a hands-on leadership role at a mission-driven fusion energy company that has raised nearly $3 billion since 2018 and is positioned as the world's largest private fusion company. You'll play a critical role in scaling NDT operations as CFS transitions from SPARC to commercial ARC power plants.
