Salary: USD 166,000 - 220,000 / annual
Anduril Industries is seeking a Modeling and Simulation Engineer to join its Space team, which develops AI-powered capabilities for Space Domain Awareness, Space Control, and Command and Control systems for U.S. military and allied partners. The team builds fully integrated hardware and software systems, including Lattice for Space Missions and modular payloads, to address emerging threats in space.
In this role, you will own the understanding and design of mission solutions, including designing mission trajectories, building physics-based models, and developing simulations to solve critical mission needs. You will work closely with stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into rigorous mathematical and physics analyses that demonstrate clear value propositions. Collaboration with Systems Engineering, GNC, Propulsion, Communications, Flight Software, Mission Operations, and other teams is essential.
Key responsibilities include developing model-driven analysis and the underlying models, gaining deep understanding of Anduril's platform autonomy and perception products, leveraging advanced internal modeling and simulation capabilities to create competitive advantages, and providing rigorous analytical products to guide hardware engineering and stakeholder decisions. You will lead physics-level modeling, mission design, constellation design, and analysis across diverse space missions tied to ongoing, funded DOD and Intelligence Community programs.
Required qualifications include an active U.S. Secret security clearance, hands-on space mission modeling and simulation experience (constellation design, trajectory design, physics-level modeling), spacecraft and payload M&S experience (propulsion, power, thermal, RADAR, SATCOM, EOIR trade-space analysis), outstanding communication and data visualization skills, strong orbital mechanics and space environment knowledge, and proficiency with physics-math scripting (MATLAB, SIMULINK, Python). A strong engineering background in Astrodynamics, Aerospace Engineering, Dynamics and Controls, or related fields is required.
Preferred qualifications include 3+ years in relevant science or engineering roles, Rendezvous Proximity Operations trajectory design and space payload experience, exceptional physics-math scripting proficiency, STK and Astrogator expertise, and experience with genetic algorithms, machine learning, AI, and reinforcement learning.
