Anduril Industries is a defense technology company building autonomous underwater and surface vehicles powered by Lattice OS, an AI-driven command and control system. The Maritime division develops autonomy computers, payload computers for sensors like sonar, surface integration units, and ground control stations. This role focuses on production-phase debugging and reliability: taking field-reported anomalies from deployed vehicles and shipping real fixes into the live codebase. You'll own the full debugging lifecycle: reproduce field anomalies using recorded sensor and mission data, use metrics and centralized logging to reconstruct system state, confirm fixes in simulation and hardware-in-the-loop environments before deployment, and write fixes in whatever language the subsystem uses (Rust, C++, Python, Go) with full tests and CI/CD. You'll determine whether issues are bugs, configuration problems, or deployment mismatches, and fix them at the correct layer rather than patching symptoms. You'll document root causes and help build the team's on-call and triage runbooks, pushing back when subsystems need architectural changes rather than band-aids. This is positioned as a genuine entry point into the codebase and company: you'll gain cross-subsystem fluency faster than greenfield feature work would provide, and transition into subsystem ownership and roadmap work as you build expertise. The role requires 25%+ travel on average to support field operations. Required: real experience debugging unfamiliar code under time pressure with incomplete information; comfort reading and fixing bugs in at least two of Rust, modern C++, Python, or Go; systems-level debugging instincts (logs, metrics, offline reproduction); hands-on experience with observability tools (Prometheus/Grafana, Loki/ELK); Linux and systems fluency; clear technical writing; willingness to work close to hardware and sensors without prior maritime or robotics background. Nice-to-have: robotics middleware, sensor drivers, real-time data pipelines, simulation-in-the-loop or hardware-in-the-loop test experience, CI/CD and versioned deployment for embedded/fleet software, on-call or field-support experience for shipped hardware.
