Defense Unicorns is seeking a Mission Director to lead business development and program execution within the Intelligence Community. This is a quota-carrying, full-lifecycle business ownership role combining sales, contracting, and program management responsibilities.
You will identify and develop net-new opportunities with Intelligence Community customers, shape solutions using Defense Unicorns' DevSecOps and cloud-native products, and lead deals from discovery through contract award. Post-award, you own the full contract lifecycle including cost, schedule, performance, staffing, margin, and customer satisfaction.
As your portfolio grows, you will transition from hands-on program leadership to leading program managers and delivery leaders while maintaining accountability for outcomes. This role requires broad ownership across business development, contracting, staffing, and execution—personally driving critical work while building teams to scale.
Key responsibilities include: building a diversified pipeline of Intelligence Community business; defining customer problems and shaping acquisition strategies; serving as program leader for contracts you close; building and leading teams to execute delivery; and growing the portfolio through follow-on work, expansions, and adjacent opportunities.
Required experience includes work in the Intelligence Community or closely related defense environments, federal acquisition knowledge (contract vehicles, strategies, negotiations), program management or contracting background, and demonstrated team leadership. You should be comfortable with ambiguity, have strong commercial judgment, and possess technical fluency in cloud-native technologies, DevSecOps, and Kubernetes sufficient to communicate Defense Unicorns' solutions. Approximately 25-40% travel required. Candidates near major Intelligence Community hubs preferred.
