Defense Unicorns is seeking a Mission Director for Cyber Operations—a quota-carrying, full-lifecycle business owner responsible for identifying, shaping, closing, and executing new business within the cyber domain for federal customers. You will build trusted relationships with customers, identify meaningful problems, and shape solutions using Defense Unicorns' secure software delivery platform. You will lead opportunities from initial discovery through contract award and remain accountable for contract execution, including cost, schedule, performance, staffing, margin, and customer satisfaction. Key Responsibilities: - Build the Business: Identify and develop net-new cyber operations opportunities; own a quota and grow a diversified portfolio. - Shape and Close: Define customer problems and scope; lead opportunities through proposal, negotiation, and contract award. - Own Contract Execution: Serve as program leader for contracts you close, managing delivery risks, scope changes, and mission outcomes. - Build and Lead Teams: Define and build teams required for each contract; personally lead execution and, as portfolio grows, lead program managers and delivery leaders. - Grow the Portfolio: Maintain active pipeline, identify follow-on work and expansions, own customer retention and gross margin. Required Experience: - Background in cyber operations, military operations, government program management, acquisition, contracting, business development, or defense industry program leadership. - Working knowledge of federal acquisition, contract vehicles, and acquisition strategies. - Strong commercial judgment and comfort owning revenue-generating activities. - Demonstrated ability to lead teams and hold accountability for outcomes. - Willingness to operate across business development, contracting, staffing, and execution. - Comfort with ambiguity and creating paths forward without predefined playbooks. - Technical fluency in cloud-native technologies, DevSecOps, Kubernetes, and modern software delivery concepts. Candidates located near major cyber hubs are preferred. Travel approximately 25–40% required.
