Defense Unicorns is seeking a Mission Director to lead business development and program execution for Army customers. This is a quota-carrying, full-lifecycle business ownership role responsible for identifying, shaping, closing, and executing new business within the Army. Key responsibilities include: **Build the Business**: Identify and develop net-new Army opportunities, build trusted relationships with customers and key stakeholders, own a sales quota, and grow a diversified portfolio. **Shape and Close Opportunities**: Define customer problems and desired outcomes, shape solutions using Defense Unicorns' cloud-native software delivery products, and lead opportunities through proposal, negotiation, and contract award. **Own Contract Execution**: Serve as program leader for contracts you close, managing delivery risks, scope changes, and mission outcomes. As the portfolio scales, you will lead program managers and delivery leaders. **Build and Lead Teams**: Define and build teams required to execute each contract. Personally lead execution initially, then transition to leading program managers and delivery leaders as the portfolio grows. **Grow the Portfolio**: Maintain an active pipeline, identify follow-on work and adjacent opportunities, own customer retention and gross margin, and evolve from individual contract ownership into broader portfolio leadership. Preferred qualifications include Army or defense environment experience, understanding of military culture and acquisition processes, background in military operations, government program management, contracting, or defense industry program leadership. Strong commercial judgment, team leadership capability, comfort with ambiguity, and technical fluency in cloud-native technologies, DevSecOps, and Kubernetes are essential. Candidates near major Army hubs are preferred. Travel approximately 25-40% required.
