Salary: USD 184,000 - 234,000 / annual
Muon Space is seeking a Microwave Instrument Systems Engineer to lead the development of advanced microwave instruments for their growing LEO satellite constellation. This is a foundational role on a newly formed team focused on remote sensing applications.
You will own the end-to-end development of microwave instruments, from design through calibration and production scaling. Key responsibilities include building cutting-edge microwave instruments for satellite deployment, understanding and refining core system components, adapting existing instrument implementations to Muon's hardware platform, and designing solutions that can be manufactured at scale. You will collaborate with external partners to enhance Muon's internal capabilities and work in a fast-paced aerospace environment.
The role requires deep expertise in microwave instrumentation design and calibration. Essential qualifications include a PhD or Master's degree in a relevant field plus 3+ years of professional experience, or equivalent hands-on experience with microwave systems. You must have a background in DSP implementation for microwave instruments and experience with ground-based and/or on-orbit calibration. Strong communication and coordination skills are critical.
Preferred experience includes microwave frontend and antenna/reflector hardware design and testing, atmospheric sounding or Earth surface imaging applications, and familiarity with Python and AWS cloud services.
This is a hybrid position requiring three days per week on-site in Muon's San Jose, CA office. The role involves ITAR/EAR compliance requirements; applicants must be U.S. persons or eligible to access export-controlled information.
