Salary: USD 80,000 - 130,000 / annual
Commonwealth Fusion Systems is seeking a Metrology Engineer to develop, validate, and deploy inspection methods for highly engineered hardware supporting the SPARC fusion project. This is a hands-on role working with complex parts and advanced measurement systems.
You will partner closely with Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Design Engineering, Quality, and R&D teams to ensure hardware meets demanding performance and reliability requirements. Key responsibilities include defining inspection strategies, selecting and configuring measurement tooling, developing and documenting inspection methods, executing inspections and analysis, presenting results to cross-functional teams, and continuously improving metrology processes to support both production ramp and engineering validation.
The ideal candidate enjoys solving ambiguous measurement problems, communicates clearly across disciplines, and takes ownership of building repeatable, scalable processes. You should be comfortable working hands-on with hardware, troubleshooting measurement challenges, and collaborating with engineers and manufacturers to translate design requirements into practical inspection approaches.
This position is based in Devens, MA, with a night shift schedule (Monday–Friday, 11:00 pm–7:30 am) that includes a 15% shift differential.
