Vercel is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to design and build V, an internal agentic interface for executing work across the company. You'll architect the agent system that enables V to understand intent, plan multi-system workflows, select appropriate tools, recover from failures, and complete long-running tasks reliably. Key responsibilities include: - Design and build V as the primary agentic interface, handling everything from answering questions and analyzing data to executing complex workflows - Develop the agent architecture enabling intent understanding, work planning, tool selection, failure recovery, and reliable task completion - Ship polished experiences across Slack, web, and other surfaces, blending natural-language interaction with rich interactive interfaces - Create evaluation, observability, and feedback systems measuring accuracy, usefulness, efficiency, and trustworthiness of V's answers and actions - Establish primitives enabling teams across Vercel to contribute new capabilities without fragmenting the agent or creating inconsistent experiences - Help define what it means for a company to be operated through an agent and translate learnings into infrastructure for Vercel's customers You bring 7+ years of full-time software engineering experience with strong TypeScript proficiency. You're comfortable working across product surfaces and system boundaries—from conversational UI and interactive data experiences to APIs, queues, databases, permissions, and production infrastructure. You care deeply about AI interaction quality: context selection, tool use, memory, latency, generated interfaces, uncertainty handling, and system communication. You have a track record of openness and adaptability, moving into unfamiliar technologies, domains, or responsibilities and learning quickly. Experience with agent harnesses (OpenClaw, Hermes, Pi, etc.) is a plus but not required. This is a high-impact role shaping the future of agentic infrastructure at a company trusted by OpenAI, PayPal, Ramp, and millions of developers.
