As a Member of Technical Staff (Backend Software Engineer), you'll build customer-facing product capabilities across the stack, working closely with product managers, designers, and fellow engineers. You'll own features from concept through production: shaping requirements, designing APIs and data flows, implementing backend services, writing tests, and iterating based on customer and engineering feedback.
Key responsibilities include:
- Build end-to-end product features across responsive web interfaces, APIs, backend services, and data models
- Design, build, and evolve scalable backend APIs, services, and data flows for reliable, multi-tenant SaaS capabilities
- Contribute to user-facing experiences and integrations, partnering with front-end engineers
- Write high-quality, maintainable code; participate in code reviews; improve testing, performance, accessibility, security, and observability
- Investigate production issues, participate in on-call rotation, and prevent repeat problems
- Collaborate across product, design, and engineering in a global team
- Build skills and automations for infrastructure and application engineering teams
- Improve observability, alerting, and cost visibility across services
- Use AI-assisted development tools responsibly
Required qualifications:
- 3+ years of professional software engineering experience delivering production web applications or SaaS products
- Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
- Strong programming experience in at least one backend language (Go, Java, Python, or Node.js)
- Experience designing and developing APIs, backend services, and SDKs
- Understanding of relational and NoSQL databases, asynchronous processing, and scalable system trade-offs
- Shipped user-facing features with deep care for usability, performance, reliability, and security
- Clean code, testing, code review, and debugging skills
- Strong communication and collaboration skills for distributed teams
- Comfortable designing and implementing in an AI-first organization
- BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
