Perplexity is seeking a DevOps engineer to join the infrastructure team supporting its AI-powered search product. You will lead the design, implementation, and scaling of infrastructure, tooling, and systems that power the Search feature, working alongside dedicated in-house AI and search interfaces.
The backend stack includes Python, Go, Rust, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, Redis, and Kubernetes. You will own the full lifecycle of infrastructure systems—from architecture through production operations.
Key responsibilities:
- Design and implement highly available, high-performance, and scalable systems
- Build tools and utilities that enhance the daily workflows of other engineers
- Design and implement CI/CD pipelines and workflows to improve stability, robustness, and iteration speed
- Maintain and optimize key-value and relational databases
- Scale and load-balance web server backends to meet rapidly changing demand
- Monitor systems and applications, proactively identifying and resolving reliability, scalability, and performance issues
- Develop monitoring tools, alerts, and dashboards to provide visibility into system health
Requirements:
- 3+ years of DevOps, SRE, or System Administration experience
- Strong experience with cloud infrastructure on AWS
- Proficiency in database management and caching strategies
- Experience with containers (Docker, Kubernetes) and orchestration tools
- Proficiency in Python and Terraform
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with ability to analyze, debug, and resolve complex technical issues
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
