Vapi is a voice AI platform that deploys intelligent agents capable of listening, adapting, and resolving customer issues without transferring calls. The company serves enterprise customers including Amazon Ring, ServiceTitan, New York Life, and Intuit, and has raised $72M in funding including a $50M Series B led by Peak XV Partners.
As a Member of Technical Staff (Release Engineer), you will own the critical CI/CD and deployment infrastructure that enables Vapi to ship hundreds of pull requests daily while maintaining safety, speed, and reliability at enterprise scale. This is a staff-level individual contributor role focused on release systems, not incident response.
In your first 30 days, you will map Vapi's end-to-end release architecture, partner with product and infrastructure teams, baseline performance metrics, and identify major failure modes to ship an initial improvement. By 60 days, you will own the release-tooling roadmap, remove costly CI/deployment bottlenecks, improve observability and diagnostics, and automate failure-prone workflows. Within 90 days, you will establish a repeatable model for safe, fast releases with measurable gains in validation time, deploy speed, and reliability, while delivering self-service workflows and guardrails.
You bring evidence of owning critical CI/CD or release infrastructure at meaningful scale with demonstrated cross-team impact. You have strong distributed-systems fundamentals and can diagnose failures across build, test, deployment, and infrastructure layers. You are hands-on with Kubernetes-based delivery systems and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Argo CD, Terraform, and Atlantis. You automate repetitive work, invest in testing and passive defenses, and use data to validate system improvements. You gather context quickly, form clear points of view, and adapt as architecture evolves. You are a low-ego teammate who communicates clearly and owns outcomes. Familiarity with AI coding tools is expected; SRE experience, knowledge of multi-agent development frameworks, and proficiency in TypeScript or Go are valued.
Vapi operates with a culture centered on building products customers love, committing to follow-through, moving with urgency, seeking direct input from customers and data, operating as one team, and communicating directly and kindly. The company offers a competitive base salary, meaningful equity, comprehensive health coverage, flexible time off, quarterly off-sites, catered meals, transportation support, equipment, and a $10k annual learning and development budget.
