This Member of Technical Staff - Management role is a senior engineering leadership position combining people management, technical strategy, and execution. You will lead and develop engineering teams across mobile, backend, and infrastructure while partnering closely with executive leadership and cross-functional teams in product, design, operations, and marketing.
Key responsibilities include: managing engineering teams and their development; establishing priorities, roadmaps, and milestones with leadership; owning engineering planning and execution to ensure consistent delivery; leading technical architecture and system design decisions; translating product and business goals into technical strategies; ensuring engineering decisions support exceptional consumer experiences; building high-performing teams through hiring, mentorship, and performance management; establishing strong engineering practices around planning, code quality, and reliability; identifying technical risks and organizational blockers early; determining infrastructure and capability investments as the company scales; providing technical leadership on complex projects while empowering engineers; balancing short-term delivery with long-term organizational health; and fostering a culture of ownership, communication, accountability, and continuous improvement.
You should have 8+ years of software engineering experience with meaningful engineering leadership or management background. Startup or high-growth company experience is essential, as is a proven track record building and scaling consumer-focused products globally. Strong technical depth in native mobile, full-stack, backend, or infrastructure engineering is required. You must have experience managing high-performing teams, strong software architecture and system design knowledge, and a proven ability to lead teams through 0→1 product development and 1→10+ scale. A track record of shipping products used by significant consumer numbers, ability to work effectively with executives and cross-functional teams, strong product instincts, excellent communication skills, and the ability to operate with high autonomy and urgency in fast-paced environments are all critical.
Standout qualifications include experience scaling consumer products to millions of users globally, leading engineering organizations through rapid growth, background in gaming/livestreaming/social/interactive consumer products, mobile application and real-time consumer experience building, strong technical depth for architectural discussions, building teams and engineering processes from scratch, and passion for products combining gaming, social interaction, livestreaming, and creator tools.
