Perplexity is hiring a senior iOS engineer to own growth across the mobile funnel for its AI answer engine and Computer product. You'll design and ship end-to-end growth surfaces spanning install, activation, onboarding, lifecycle messaging, conversion, retention, and in-app purchase moments on iOS. The role combines product engineering with experimentation: you'll lead A/B tests from hypothesis through rollout, build flag-driven and server-driven patterns to test without waiting on app store releases, and own in-app purchase and paywall integrations including billing systems, subscription flows, and pricing experiments. You'll also build push and lifecycle notification experiences that drive retention, partner with web and design teams to ensure cross-platform consistency, and optimize app store performance and attribution. Success means shipping many experiments in parallel while respecting mobile constraints (release cycles, store review, version fragmentation), and hill-climbing on key metrics: install-to-activation, D1/D7/D30 retention, notification opt-in, paid conversion, and habit formation. You'll work closely with Product, Design, Data Science, Monetization, Marketing, and the core Mobile team to translate behavioral signals into durable product surfaces. The role requires 3+ years shipping consumer iOS apps at scale, strong native skills (Swift/SwiftUI/Objective-C), full release cycle ownership, comfort with A/B testing platforms (Eppo, Statsig, Optimizely), data-informed decision-making, and strong product judgment. Nice-to-haves include growth team experience, in-app payments expertise, mobile attribution and measurement stacks, ASO experience, and startup background.
