Roboflow is building the visual cortex for physical AI, providing tools and infrastructure that enable over 1M developers and half of the Fortune 100 to deploy computer vision and AI applications. The company has raised $63M+ from top-tier investors including Google Ventures, Y Combinator, and Craft Ventures. As a Member of Technical Staff on the Frontier Data team, you will work at the cutting edge of AI capability development. Your core mission is to design and build reinforcement learning environments, evaluations, and datasets that identify and close high-value capability gaps in frontier models. You'll architect the platform infrastructure that reliably executes hundreds of thousands of tasks at scale, ensuring reproducibility and observability throughout. Key responsibilities include: - Designing RL environments and datasets targeting specific capability gaps in frontier models - Developing internal platforms and infrastructure for large-scale task execution with high throughput and reliability - Collaborating directly with researchers and engineers at leading AI labs to align dataset development with their model roadmaps - Building grading harnesses, metrics, and automated quality checks to validate environments and datasets - Prototyping rapidly and hardening solutions into production systems - Contributing to open-source projects that benefit the broader AI community You will operate with significant autonomy across a wide surface area spanning systems engineering, ML tooling, and research collaboration. Your judgment about what to build will be as valued as your execution ability. The ideal candidate is a strong generalist engineer energized by ill-defined frontier problems, with practical experience in agents, evaluations, or RL workflows. You should have a strong technical background, excellent written communication, and high agency with a bias toward action. Experience with computer vision, multimodal models, or prior work with AI labs as a data/evaluation partner is a plus. Roboflow is a fully distributed company with hubs in San Francisco, New York City, Singapore, and Brazil. The Frontier Data team is headquartered in San Francisco. The company supports flexible work arrangements with a $4,000/year travel stipend, relocation bonuses for hub-based work, and resources to collaborate in person as desired.
