Nutanix is seeking a Member of Technical Staff 2 to join its DevEx (Developer Extension) team, a 70+ person sustaining engineering organization focused on solving complex customer problems at the code level. This role combines software development with customer-facing technical support, working on cloud-native storage solutions built on Nutanix's industry-leading software-defined storage and open-source technologies.
You will diagnose and resolve escalated customer issues in distributed systems, develop automation tools for root cause analysis, and design solutions for production problems. Key responsibilities include working with the extended software development team on features and bugs, engaging with customers and support teams, developing deep understanding of complex distributed systems, and creating tools to improve product debuggability and serviceability.
The role requires strong programming skills in C, C++, Python, or Golang, with 4+ years of industry experience (or Master's degree). You should have extensive knowledge of UNIX/Linux, experience with file systems, operating systems, hypervisors, networking, and distributed systems management. Familiarity with virtualization technologies (KVM, VMware, Hyper-V, Xen) and microservice-based architectures is essential. Experience with Kubernetes, cloud hyperscalers (AWS, Azure, GCP), and cloud-native storage technologies is highly valued.
You will work in a fast-paced environment alongside SW Development, QA, Documentation, and Product Management teams. The role emphasizes robust software engineering practices, reliability, and maintainability. Strong collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills are critical, as is the ability to thrive in startup-like environments.
The position is hybrid, with expectations to work onsite in Bengaluru a minimum of 3 days per week to foster collaboration and team alignment.
