The Nuclear Company is a Series A-funded AI-enabled startup pioneering next-generation nuclear reactor deployment through a design-once, build-many model. They are seeking a Member of Nuclear Staff—a senior individual-contributor role for exceptional technical leaders who operate across traditional engineering and organizational boundaries.
The role is ideal for experienced professionals with deep expertise in one or more of: mechanical engineering, civil/structural engineering, construction and project delivery, or nuclear licensing and regulatory affairs. This is not a narrowly scoped engineering position; Members of Nuclear Staff take ownership of consequential technical and programmatic problems, establish direction where precedent is limited, and work across engineering, construction, licensing, supply chain, project management, and executive leadership.
Key responsibilities span multiple domains:
**Mechanical Engineering:** Lead design, analysis, and optimization of reactor systems and components; conduct thermal-hydraulic and structural analysis; oversee component testing and validation; mentor junior engineers; and drive continuous improvement through AI-enabled tools.
**Civil/Structural Engineering:** Design and optimize civil structures and foundations; manage structural analysis and FEA; coordinate with construction teams; ensure compliance with building codes and nuclear standards; and integrate AI tools for design acceleration.
**Construction & Project Delivery:** Oversee construction planning and execution; manage schedules, budgets, and quality; coordinate with supply chain and vendors; solve on-site technical challenges; and drive efficiency through technology integration.
**Nuclear Licensing & Regulatory Affairs:** Lead licensing strategy and regulatory submissions; interface with the NRC and other agencies; ensure compliance with 10 CFR and industry standards; mentor regulatory teams; and drive innovation in licensing approaches.
You will bring nuclear industry rigor combined with AI, operating with speed, adaptability, and bias toward execution required in a hyper-growth technology company. The company operates with an AI-first mindset—every employee is expected to leverage AI, technology, and their Nuclear Operating System (NOS) to improve quality, speed, and impact. You will continuously identify opportunities to automate workflows, enhance decision-making, and improve processes.
The Nuclear Company hires people driven by purpose who thrive in ambiguity and are energized by building what has never been built before. Their values—Transparency, Responsibility, Unity, Scrappy, and Tenacity—guide collaboration and decision-making. TRUST is the foundation of their safety culture, fostering intellectual honesty, accountability, and open communication.
