Inherent is an AI research company building self-improving AI systems designed to accelerate scientific discovery. The company is a public benefit corporation founded by frontier AI researchers, recently raised a $50M seed round, and is scaling rapidly. As Talent Architect, you will build Inherent's research and engineering team from the ground up. This is a founding-stage hiring role with direct access to the founding team and responsibility for inventing an AI-native approach to talent acquisition. Key responsibilities: - Map and identify exceptional talent across post-training, AI for science, and AI infrastructure, with focus on overlooked candidates - Build relationships with elite researchers and engineers from top academic and industry labs who don't typically apply to job postings - Represent Inherent at major conferences (NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR) and organize company events, dinners, seminars, and hackathons - Build a referral culture across the team that compounds Inherent's unique culture of technical excellence and creative thinking - Design and run a fast, thoughtful interview process that candidates remember positively - Collaborate with Faraday (Inherent's internal AI agent) and the operations team to systematize hiring so each search, screen, and conversation improves the next one You will work in-person daily at King's Cross, London, with regular international travel. The role offers the rare opportunity to build a talent function from scratch at a frontier AI company, learning from world-class researchers while developing a path toward broader operational leadership. Requirements and desired qualities: - Genuine fascination with scientific discovery and AI's potential to accelerate it - Curiosity about AI research; you read papers, follow labs, and understand the work - Strong judgment about people and ability to assess exceptional researchers from CVs, GitHub profiles, and publication records - Passion for uncovering fascinating, overlooked talent - Clear, warm, distinctive writing that generates replies through specificity and credibility - Strong organizational skills to manage many concurrent conversations without dropping threads - Ability to coordinate distinctive events reflecting intellectual rigor - Discretion with sensitive candidate, compensation, and company information - Already use AI to multiply your time; want to push further - Desire to build culture valuing weirdness, creativity, artistic excellence, scientific precision, hard work, and kindness Helpful but not essential: prior recruiting or sourcing experience, background in scientific or technical fields, or community-building experience. The company prioritizes mission-driven sharp thinking over experience and process comfort.
