As a Medicinal Chemist, you will be a key technical expert supporting multiple partner drug discovery programs across the full Design-Make-Test-Analyze (DMTA) cycle. You'll work embedded with biotech and pharma partners, from lead generation through development candidate nomination, collaborating with computational chemistry, DMPK, and machine learning teams.
Key responsibilities include: advising on diverse small molecule modalities and synthetic strategies; leveraging Inductive's predictive models and AI workflows to accelerate decision-making; working with CRO partners on synthesis, assay development, and experimental validation; helping develop and refine Indy, the AI medicinal chemistry assistant; and representing Inductive at conferences, in publications, and through direct partner engagement.
You bring deep medicinal chemistry expertise with a synthetic organic chemistry background and a track record of advancing compounds to development candidate stage. You have hands-on experience across the full drug discovery pipeline, including lead generation and lead optimization decisions. You're comfortable evaluating compound quality using multiple approaches (LLE, dose prediction, human PK projection) and have worked across diverse modalities (reversible/covalent inhibitors, heterobifunctionals, peptides). You have years of CRO collaboration experience and think strategically about synthetic routes, convergent synthesis, and late-stage intermediates. Experience with predictive models (FEP, ADME), automation, or AI retrosynthesis is a plus. You communicate proactively, handle confidential information responsibly, and thrive in a collaborative, fast-moving environment.
